I'm Ready for my Close Up, Mr. DeMille

I was interviewed by my friend Ade last week about wearing my Google Glass!

She makes it look GOOD.

We had the real camera and mics and everything. When she asked me to describe reactions to the Glass that I usually receive, I described it as "having a really cute puppy. Everyone wants to stop and pet it, and there is always a double take then a large squeal." At the airport yesterday, a random guy that I told that to decided that really, it is more like having a baby - because not everyone is a fan, unlike cute animals. He might be right.
As soon as I get Wanderbee (an app that lets me post to my blog directly from the Google Glass) up and running again, I will be alllll over this blog! Until then, make sure to subscribe to my video channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/htmella. I post new videos there as I take them, and am always taking requests.

The Last Two Months in GIF Format

UPDATE! It has been quite a while, as I was waiting (very impatiently) for my Google Glass invitation to be sent to me. For two/three months I looked very much like this:

Project Glass even Twittered me several times telling me not to give up hope.

But then, two weeks ago, the moment came! I GOT THE INVITE!

But then I didn't have the money until the following week because PAYDAYZ:

And then because I had to wait, all of the June appointments were gone!

But then, I went ahead and booked my appointment for July 3rd, at 4PM. Which really, in the scheme of things, isn't too too far away.

So now I am in waiting mode (again), and so close I can taste it. Time for some more logistics (like tethering and whether to switch to Android), and planning whether to dress up for my Glass fitting, and making a list of all of the cool things to do once I have it. Basically, I need it to be July 3rd right now, because:

Fitting In and Standing Out

The last couple days I have started to realize that I have a couple logistics to figure out:

1) If the glasses are Wifi only, I might have to get the Hotspot feature on my phone because what is the point of not being connected everywhere?

2) What color should I pick if I get the choice?

Well, at least I have you all for the latter - tell me, which color would you pick given the choice?

They Like Me, They Really Like Me!

Well sure enough - I got picked to be a Google Glasses Explorer today.

I was actually in the car on the way back to the Milwaukee airport with my Sales exec, Craig, and had a mini freak-out in his rental car. There may or may not have been hyperventilation involved and a bit of this:

Not many details yet, other than I need to figure out where I am going to get the $1,500 from (so much for buying furniture for the new apartment I guess), but I will update when I have information other than internal squeeing.

Follow me through my uber tech nerd journey and feel free to hit me up on Twitter if you have any special requests or you want to live vicariously through me.
